Ron Rainey has enjoyed a career in the music industry for the last 38 years. Starting in the mail room at The Ashley Famous Agency in January of 1969 in New York City (which eventually became ICM) to being the CEO of his own management company as well as owning his own record labels, Ramblin Records, Rainman Records, Carolina Southern Music publishing, and Raineyville Music Publishing.
His move from the mailroom to being an agent was quick and he was immediately responsible for such super star acts as CHICAGO, SEALS & CROFT, THE GRATEFUL DEAD, RICH LITTLE and many others. He was lured away from The Ashley Famous Agency to join The Agency of Performing Arts (APA) in September of 1971 where he was Vice President of the Concert Division. Rainey moved to APA's West Coast office in October of 1972. While there he handled THE JEFFERSON AIRPLANE, THE GRATEFUL DEAD, THE BYRDS, ISAAC HAYES, just to name a few.
In July of 1973 Rainey left APA and opened the West Coast office of Magna Artists Corporation. In January of 1975, Rainey with partner Ed Rubin bought Magna from General Electric Company subsidiary Tomorrow Entertainment. Rainey as Chairman of the Board and CEO took Magna to the top ranks of independent agencies in the late 70's. THE ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA, JIMMY BUFFETT, LEON RUSSELL, PATTY SMITH, OZZY OSBOURNE, and KRIS KRISTOFFERSON were among the many clients represented by the company. Rainey sold his half of the business to Rubin in April of 1981.
Ron Rainey Management, Inc. was established in May of 1981 with initial clients RITA COOLIDGE, JOHN KAY & STEPPENWOLF, TOM SCOTT and co-management with Bert Block of KRIS KRISTOFFERSON. Current clients include KID CREOLE & THE COCONUTS signed on in 1987 and recently signed on for their fourth term. THE MARSHALL TUCKER BAND signed up in 1991 and are now in their third term and ALVIN LEE of TEN YEARS AFTER has been a client since 1987. THE BLASTERS signed on in 2002. BLUE CHEER joined in February of 2007. Some past Management clients include THE BAND, THE FIXX and JEFFERSON STARSHIP.
Rainey has secured and serviced record deals for most of the above clients as well as arranging and administering countless tours and special event appearances in the United States and around the world.

In 1997, Rainey and THE MARSHALL TUCKER BAND (singer/owner) Doug Gray founded MARSHALL TUCKER ENTERTAINMENT D/B/A RAMBLIN RECORDS. Ramblin controls the entire MTB catalog of 22 studio recordings, two live CDs, one DVD, and two compilations. Many more releases are planned, new recordings as well as catalog releases, both audio and video from MTB's vast archives. All are distributed by SONY through Ramblin's joint venture deal with Shout! Factory. Rainey and Gray also own and operate publishing company Carolina Southern Music which owns or controls over fifty song copyrights.
Rainey formed Rainman Records in 2001. Rainman has released the catalogs of established artists such as THE FIXX, ALVIN LEE, JOHN KAY & STEPPENWOLF and KID CREOLE & THE COCONUTS in addition to various other releases. Rainman has released 30 CDs and 3 DVDs TO DATE, all distributed by R.E.D. through Rainman's deal with Shout! Factory.
Rainey enjoys collecting Music and Baseball Memorabilia, travel, and fine wines. Despite his many accomplishments, Rainey has never slowed down and is always looking for new challenges. "The success I have achieved is based on honesty, integrity and hard work", he says. "I am very proud to have been in the music business for 38 years and successful in business for myself for the past 32 of those years, and I look forward to many more years of successful client and business relationships."
